Taken because of Business requirements. Excessively tough grading based on TA's judgment and opinions.

Interesting content but unclear rubrics

Poor communication, I was explicitly, and verbally judged based on my appearance and major. These traits do not match what she is "used to seeing" and I feel are unfairly being used as part of my grade determination. Office hours were not helpful. Simply told me how bad my paper was and how it needed to be redone. Even after following advice and working extra hard to refine the paper, received a near-failing grade.

Do not take this class unless you want unnecessary stress.

The class is completely graded by Julia Engellandt based off of her own opinions. She gives terrible feedback (literally just writing “no” in response to things she doesn’t like) and it is very hard to communicate with her as she doesn’t respond to emails frequently. Do not take this course you will probably fail.

The course could be interesting, but grading ruins it.

She grades the essays so ridiculously harsh, to the point where it is almost biased. You could follow the provided rubric as closely as possible, and still find points being taken off for no reason. If there is a line separating constructive criticism and hateful comments, her feedback is far past it. I have contemplated reporting this professor to Mizzou, something I have never done before (IN MY LIFE), strictly because of how poorly this class is managed and graded.

If you are someone looking for a WI Humanity, save yourself the time and effort, and do not take this class. I wouldn't take this class if it was the very last thing available, and I would rather drop out of Mizzou than take this class again.

Professor grades terribly based on own opinions and feelings and it seems she enjoys taking off points and giving poor grades. Even if you attend office hours and writing center appointments there will be a high chance of poor grades. After revising my paper and doing everything asked and more, still a poor grade. Communication is very poor as well with last minute changes and poor response times. I am currently still waiting on my next paper to get back to me, which I wrote 2 weeks ago, so I can somehow redo it by tomorrow's deadline.

I strongly encourage anyone to look to take a different course if at all possible.
