This course is conceptual and calculation heavy. There is a project to design the main components of a wastewater treatment facility for a small community. This project, especially finding the relevant codes and data, can be time consuming and requires students to make assumptions and use good judgement. It is helpful to ask the professor questions about the project.
This course covers wastewater treatment and also gives an overview of wastewater sludge treatment.
The professor is a nice person and spent a lot of effort to keep the course interesting and engaging. There is little time spent on going over calculations during class, but the calculations are not too difficult to understand if you keep up with the material and read through the textbook example handouts that the professor provides outside of class. The professor is a harsh but fair marker.
The professor regularly gives hints during lectures about what could be on the midterm/exam so pay close attention and take good notes. You must be very solid on the concepts and calculations to do well!
