Prof: Benson Honig / Fall 2021

Asking a bunch of Canadian business undergrad students to fix the water crisis of a small town in South Africa with no experience and essentially no guidance by the professor either is just a bad idea. We are so far removed from the problem that we could not possibly provide a holistic solution. Not to mention, anything we do come up with would be imposing, creating inequality, and dependency. We learned how to tiptoe around the ego of a white man who thinks he can save the world by yelling at children. Also how to make a settlement in a foreign country dependant on the resources and non-existent expertise of the aforementioned children.

Don’t raise your hand. It’s not worth hearing whatever he’s going to say.

From the very first class where Benson informed us students that he had zero monetary incentive to perform, he has been an ugly stain on what was an otherwise mediocre semester. Benson stated that his financial position implied that he was motivated to create good experiences for students. However, the lack of a numerical grade (the course is pass/fail) in combination with the few assignments received and utter disinterest exhibited by Benson in class was indicative that he simply did not care to be an educator. As a case study on how not to behave, Benson Honig was truly remarkable. He consistently and aggressively interrupted students in order to assert his superiority over us. However...read more
