If you do the textbook problems, this class is not hard. The first half is actually quite easy, but then it picks up at the second half. Usually, the exams are like the weekly problems, but they also pull directly from the textbook.

Set up the same at 1A03 with weekly problems, two midterms, and an exam.

Kratsios is a passionate professor who will teach you a lot about visualizing the math. He is also very funny and will poke fun at his students. But if you just want to pass the course and don't care about visualizing it, his class might feel like a waste of time (by the end of the semester, only about 15 people showed up to his lecture because everyone watched Childs' lecture online).

Watch Dr Child's lectures if you have Kratsios, because Child writes the exams. I knew someone who failed a midterm by studying only what Kratsios taught and not watching Child's lectures.

This is a very difficult course for most first years, especially if you come with low expectations thinking it may be in similar difficulty to one of the following prerequisite courses taken earlier. The actual course load isn't heavy, but the additional time you need to take to practice problems and read from the textbook will be heavy. Try to do well here because a lot of the material covered will 100% come up in later classes.

A mess of a class. Seemed to leap around the textbook absolutely aimlessly. The first midterm was hard, but the second was absolutely BRUTAL.

Very soft-spoken and difficult to hear despite the use of his mic in the lecture hall. Also pretty disorganized in terms of his teaching.

If you don't need this course, don't take it. If you do need it, do the suggested problems and keep up with the work and make sure you understand everything
