Comments on the course

I thoroughly enjoy all of Dr. Shields classes. The students who struggle with his courses are the ones who don't attend class and don't ask questions. His tests are straight forward and what is a bonus for one test will be a question on another and vice versa. His nickname is "copy and paste" because you will see the same things over and over. He provides powerpoints and teaches from those but does a LOT of talking during class, way more than the powerpoint can contain. My study method for his class (and in general honestly) is, print out the power points in the 3 slide-per-page method and then take notes all over the power point. Then I go back and rewrite the notes before the test. I've never made less than an A on his tests and I know nothing about farm animals.

Course Content

This course is the next class after ANSC 301 and focuses more on the anatomy and physiology of nutrition: how the food goes from the mouth to the blood stream, Kreb's cycle, etc. There is more of a scientific side to this course.

Comments on the professor

Dr. Shields is tough but fair. And he doesn't give you trick questions. If it's on the test, he taught it.
