Prof: Jay Straker / Summer 2021
Mar 13, 2022
Good way to get a hass in over the summer. Hard but not terrible.
We read 2 books. The Plague by Albert Camus and God's Bits of Wood. There were 3 mini essays (1 per week) that were 1-2 pages each, with a longer essay due at the very end. Course was entirely online with no lectures or required meetings, so you could do it anytime that worked for you.
Dr. Straker is an extremely harsh grader. On the first assignment I put in a ton of effort and got a C. Then a B on the next one. Then another C. But by some miracle I passed the course with an A- at the end. I think he tries to scare off some students at first but them compensates in the end with very nice grading and extra credit. So if you get hammered with bad grades at the start don't worry too much, that's just how he does things.
