Comprehensive final which covers ALL terms, I had two people I worked with get screwed by taking this class ~2 years after 232 or 231, DONT do this.
Drolet was much better than the other two professors I had for this series.

I thought this was the easiest in the 23X series (still a challenging class though) and the most useful for future classes (biochem, env chem, etc)

Worst class I’ve taken
Content was poorly taught and I never felt prepared for exams regardless of the help i sought out and the various studying methods I experimented with.
Margie is the worst professor ever. Belittles you and makes you feel stupid for asking clarifying questions. She has had many complaints made about her including one in the spring of 2021 where she wouldn’t accommodate a religious holiday for an exam day. She genuinely seems like she hates being a professor.
If you have to take 233, do not sign up for Margies section

The hybrid model (online lectures and in-class group worksheets) doesn’t work well for a lot of students. Some weekends I had 8+ hours of homework for this course alone between the excruciating mastering assignments, weekly quizzes, and exam prep. I love chemistry as a subject but this course made me resent it and the intense workload made me very burned out by the last course of the series.
The content is useful if you’re going further on in chem or bio.
Margie was very harsh and seemed unhappy doing her job. The students (in her class only) have to stand in front of the class and explain the worksheet solutions to their peers while she critiques them. The exams were never curved even when the average was in the mid 60’s. I had a different gen chem professor for 232 that was much kinder and more approachable for questions.
There is a cumulative final that covers all 3 terms of Gen chem, so take good notes throughout the year.
