Very essential to understand everything but my professor just wasn’t the best. Also big discrepancies between class sections in terms of curves, exam difficulty, and opportunities for extra credit.

Very heavy workload with three homework assignments per week that can be very long on occasion. It's a beast, hence why it's one of the more failed civil courses. Lots of content gets covered, GO TO LECTURE or you will absolutely fall behind.
I personally really liked Prof. Dunston, he is very knowledgeable and was always very respectful and helpful if you needed anything. His handwriting is very neat and his slides are very easy to follow (and help a lot with quizzes).
Don't cop out on the homework. I cannot stress this enough. I know it's tempting to just finish them to submit so you can work on other homework for other classes or go to bed but there's so much content covered in this course you won't know how to do it without putting the effort in to learn it.
I only took this course once but I did really like Dunston, I'd get him if you can

A very time consuming, occasionally quite difficult course.
Jeong is a good professor who thoroughly explains the concepts. He is willing to walk you through something until you get it right.
Learn this stuff, take it seriously. It's going to show up a lot in your other classes if you are a civil.

3 fairly hard homeworks per week, but if you take good notes in lecture it’s doable. Exams are easier than the homework.
Dr. Jeong made the concepts in this course simple and easy to understand.
Understand everything on the homeworks and you will ace this class.
