Quizzes are easy if you understood the lecture. Projects aren't particularly demanding until project 3, if you know the basics. Very uphill if you know nothing about sound design or the editing software.
Skills learnt from using software are reasonably industry-useful. Labs aren't very useful besides for feedback on projects, because the TA might not translate the content in a way that's really beginner friendly. Need to learn how to use Max 8 yourself.
The professor has a great deal of passion for what he teaches, and has a lighthearted personality to teach it. He has a noticeable French accent but it's not that distracting. Participate in the chat by answering theory-based questions or correct his mistake and you can get bonus grades.
Learn how to use Max 8 (or 9, now that it's out), refresh on some basic physics regarding sound, such as amplitude, frequency, hertz. Plan the projects ahead.

If you're interested in sound editing and know a bit of programming then this will be an easy SIAT course if you need a UD elective. Warning to non-SIAT students: Don't take this course unless you've worked with video/audio editing software, and expect to learn a new OOP language through MAX 8.
Do the readings and pay attention to the lectures as that will help you for the quizzes. Also attend the labs as it is helpful for the sound programming component of the course.
