Tests were very different than what we had practiced with webwork. Keqin also had difficulty in explaining topics. I didn't mind the content though.
Make sure you go to office hours and use piazza.

The tests were completely different from examples provided in class or for homework. Textbook is able to assist for some of the challenging questions, but Prof Liu likes to add challenge questions and weigh them heavily. This semester there was no opportunity to be graded for part marks, so tests were not reflective of our ability to execute the step-by-step process. Prof Liu also struggled to communicate effectively with students, resulting in confusion with regards to learning goals and expectations.
Read the textbook. I should have done it earlier, but trust me, the solutions and sample questions should help you especially when it comes to WeBWorK questions that are assigned for homework, but are never explained in class. Prof Liu also says his lecture notes are enough to succeed in the course, they are not. Treat them as supplementary notes but they don't include any hard examples at all. You may understand his notes, but his notes only cover a surface-level understanding of Math 184.

Course was difficult, but prof gave ample opportunity and material to prep for exams. Prof Liu was a little disorganized this semester, but that disorganization didn't impact the quality of the learning.
The recommended textbook questions should be done as you learn the material. When preparing for exams, use the workshops, take-home assignments and webwork, as their questions are fairly similar to those found on the exams.
