This is a great class. Just be ready to dissect and record electrical signals from the dissection. There were several experiments we did like doing ERG recordings of a wild type and a mutant fruit fly. We also took EEG of snails and ourselves. For this course make sure to attend class every week. Additionally there are 3 papers/projects to work on. The first 2 (fruit fly ERG and snail EEG) are graded based on participation; you’ll get feedback to prepare you for a paper and presentation for the last project. The last project is an independently-chosen one.

Both professors are really amazing! They do prep for the experiments. Additionally they provide a mistake-encouraged zone.

Be ready to troubleshoot dissections and inserting the electrodes in the organism.
