Prof: Ken Teter / Spring 2022

This has been, by far, the most interesting course I have ever taken. The material is taught in a very well organized manner so that the topics work off of each other. The exams are all written answer and incredibly fair, the averages were around 80s. The professor is great at explaining complex topics and answering any questions you may have.
This class really dives into the molecular biology behind a lot of pathogens and how they function. We mostly focus on how pathogens take advantage of host systems to infect us, and how our own responses can be damaging. The topics learned in this class have been helpful on the MCAT, if that impacts your choice in taking this at all.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He speaks clearly, has a good pace, his slides are well organized, and he is very concise. He uses great metaphors and examples to explain hard topics. There are both in person lectures and prerecorded lectures, and you need to do both to do well in the class. However, its not that much of a time sink since the textbook reading is optionally and not really required.
Watch the recorded lectures before going to class! It will make your life 10x easier.
