If you read the textbook, you don't necessarily need to attend the class. If you attend the class ( and take notes ), you don't need to read the textbook. The textbook is a copy and paste of the class, but that makes sense because the textbook was written by the Professor and is completely free and available to everyone ! Cool course with an awesome professor !
What you are graded on: - Mini responses (drafts) for a possible paper (only have to do 3 of 4 papers) - 3 Papers - Section attendance (this is extra credit !!) - Logging in via I-Clicker to lecture (this is extra credit !!)
Amazing professor. Super passionate about the subject and is always willing to speak to the audience and hear various perspectives. Extremely approachable and kind.
This class is not what I expected out of philosophy class (learning about ancient modes of thought, uncovering some history, contemplating deep topics), but instead is focused on creating arguments and justifying those (God does or does not exist/ eating meat is harmful / etc. ) Although the class is relatively easy, some TAs can be hard on grading papers.
