Prof: Douglas, Rich, Zanden / Fall 2023

I had Douglas (Plants), Keiser (Animals), and Palmer (Ecology). Overall the course was pretty mid.
Felt boring and useless sometimes as a Premed, but it is a required course. The professors all tried to keep the info exciting and relevant, but plants and animals just aren't for me personally.
Professors were great. Douglas had the most difficult exam, but after lots of studying I managed to get an 86 + 4 points extra credit/curve. Keiser gave a practice exam with 40 questions, 20 of which were on the exam, giving a guaranteed 50%. Got a 90 + 2 points extra credit, no curve given (do not expect one, exam is pretty easy). Just took Palmer's exam a few days ago and even though I studied and felt really good, I walked out not feeling 100% confident, so do not underestimate his exam. All professors assignments are easy.
Go to class, take notes on the Learning Objectives, and don't waste your money on Smoking Notes. If you choose not to go to class, I do know people who used Smoking Notes and did well but that is a waste of money and effort. Find a group of friends to study with and it makes things a lot easier.

Interesting course with really good professors (I had Burleigh, Rich, Palmer) who really want students to learn and do well.

It's an interesting course, not too work heavy for a science class. The professors I had (Douglas, Rich, and Vander Zanden) were all very nice and understanding.
Nice people, Rich is definitely the best teacher though.
Take it because it's a prereq for almost all higher-level BSC, ZOO, WEC courses.
