I really enjoyed this course, it was a great introduction to the Digital Worlds Institute and encouraged me to pursue DAS academically.

The class focuses on the elements of design that go into artwork, movies, and cartoons, among other media. It helps you understand why artists and directors make the decisions they do in order to convey their themes. While I already had a base knowledge of the film industry coming in, it's very approachable to those who know nothing about it, and I still learned a lot.

Ms. Cantrell is fantastic. She works really hard in class and is a fun and personable teacher. You should take advantage of your time with her, as she knows a lot about the industry that she can't cover in class, and she's more than happy to help you with any of your assignments. The only con is that she is one of the busiest teachers in the DAS department, so she takes a while to respond to e-mails. Contact TAs or go to Cantrell's office hours if you need anything immediate, otherwise, send e-mails long before the assignment is due.

I really enjoyed this class. There were weekly assignments that would sometimes take me a while to do and frequent discussion posts. Attendance was mandatory and she would do roll call at the beginning of every class so make sure you show up.

This class mainly focused on drawing stuff on photoshop. If you aren't the best artist you might struggle with this class. I am okay with art, not great, so that could be difficult at times. However, the grading isn't harsh and you won't get penalized for being a bad artist as long as you follow the instructions.

I loved professor Cantrell and thought she was one of the best lecturers I have had at UF. The grading wasn't bad at all and she offered a little bit of extra credit at the end of the semester too.

Know that you will likely want to buy photoshop for this class which can be expensive. You will also need good technology for digital drawing.
