Unnecessarily difficult composition class. There is way too many assignments and at least 3 things due every week. The professors made attendance mandatory and made us do dumb group activities every 10 minutes during lectures. He also grades very very very very very harshly. This is the first time I ever struggled in a writing class and I literally have been working part time as a journalist for a newspaper for 3 years now.

ENC1102 online was not a hard course. There are a decent amount of discussion posts. For assignments, there's also peer reviews, super easy quizzes, and essays. No exams. Conducting the science experiment was a bit annoying. It's the workload you'd expect for a 6k writing class, but there isn't anything "difficult" you have to learn. Just make sure you have time to do the essays. I didn't think grading was harsh. As for the textbook, I just found an older version of it for free online and used it when needed.

Discussion after discussion, just not worth it. Only taking for the required credit. And why are we doing a science experiment here?? If you couldn't tell I did not like this class

Overall the course was useful in teaching you how to formulate argumentive essays and write different types of essays across all subjects. It does take a lot of time and it can be difficult occasionally trying to find the right sources and integrating it into the essay.
Really nice and chill as long as you follow all her instructions that have been listed in the course.
Be prepared to spend a good chunk of time and effort writing essays and trying to perfect it. The grading isn't super light, but it isn't super heavy either.

The class is useful and certainly helped me identify the best places to find sources for scholarly essays and presentations in various disciplines. Depending on your instructor/professor, you may get to have sessions dedicated to learning about UF resources for writing and research. There were about 19 students in my class.
Of course, this course provides 6,000 words so it is based primarily on essay writing. There were several discussion posts as well. We were meant to read the textbook, although you can get by without reading it. It might be helpful though. Whether or not you consider yourself a good writer, the course will help you hone your skills and break down some of the steps that may sometimes be intuitive in writing, depending on your audience and topic.
Daun Fields was an graduate student instructor when I was enrolled in this course. She is very sweet and extremely understanding about circumstances that may have gotten in the way of you submitting an assignment on time. She is also always willing to explain anything more than once if necessary and check your writing before submitting.
Nothing really. Great class!

The class I had was small, maybe 8 kids in it however it is completely depended on the prof.
If you are interested in writing papers related to research this is a great class to take. Taught me to analyze and write research papers which has practical use.
Was great, it was split into 3 units with 3 different grad students teaching each one. Let us redo an essay at the end of the semester for a new grade.
Expect to put in a good amount of time writing the essay, the prof. is completely dependent on your grade.
