I thought this class would be the best one of my degree to prepare me for the workforce but I would disagree with that outlook having taken it now. It's mainly labs, some are much easier than others, if you can google a solution and follow it you will do fine.
Some of the labs are very old, the best lab walkthroughs are through ESRI, the steps are longwinded or outdated. I wouldn't say I have a 'foundation' in GIS after this course, I know how to google to get what the rubric wants and that is all.
The professor has a great personality and he seems to really want to help you but I found that he likes to take non-direct paths to the point in his lectures. They are fun and he makes them relatable but you don't need to watch them at all to do well in the course. The lab videos on the other hand are hit and miss, they will either walk you through the assignment step by step or be a decade old and you'll need to google 'how to do x,y, or z in arcgis pro' over and over again to get through a lab. I never attended the offic hour and he doesn't respond much in the group chat he creates tbh. The semester is almost over and he hasn't graded any assignment that I've submitted all semester but he is chill with deadlines.
If you're bad at troubleshooting, bad at computers, have never taken a programming course, or have a mac computer take GIS3001C Spatial Maps and Graphs first, if you can do any of the above you can take both of these courses together with no problem. GIS3001C is cake and GIS3043 is a bit more complicated but was still disappointing to me in terms of real life preparedness.

Overall, if you don’t let the assignments build up and attend office hours If needed, class shouldn’t be extremely difficult.
The content is just a bunch of mini projects/assignments which help one learn the different GIS software tools.
Make sure to join the GroupMe that the professor provides as that is the best way to contact him.

It was a really decent course. If you are tech savvy this will definitely be an easier course. Being very bad with tech, this course was more difficult for me. The videos that he presented showed differently laid out programs than what I was seeing. Sometimes the assignments were confusing but overall manageable. Some weeks could have a lot more lecture material.
This course is very lab heavy, there is usually a weekly quiz and a couple of labs to do. They were interesting assignments but I personally do not think I will use it again.
He was an amazing professor, if you had any concerns all you had to do was reach out to him. He did not grade things very timely, but once I reached out to him he graded everything that same day. He is very understanding, so if you do have concerns he is willing to help.
Do not wait until the last minute to do all of the labs (everything in course is due at end of semester)
