Comments on the course

It's an amazing course, and I would highly recommend anyone take it if you are interested in urban and regional planning or otherwise like city design.

Course Content

We met Mondays on zoom and Wednesdays in person. We had weekly assignments based on the module we learned that week, which was based on a different part of the world and it's urban design styles. We also had two group projects, but they were relatively easy.

Comments on the professor

Professor Dost is the best professor I have had so far. He is so enthusiastic, entertaining, and loves to listen to and engage his students. It was a blast to be in his class.

Advice

This is a great class!! You will have to deal with group projects, but they are relatively easy as long as your group is good.

Comments on the course

So I took URP3001 as a fall connection course and had pretty much 0 interest in urban planning. I never read through the textbook and the prof is kind of non-existent. She also grades the discussion posts a bit harshly

Course Content

You have weekly quick 10 question quizzes, took me about 4 min each. However, the real work comes with the 3 exams and discussion posts. She has the minimum requirement at 500 words but in reality most people wrote closer to 800-1000 bc the questions were really broad. The discussion posts took me literally all day. She also does offer extra credit that also was roughly 800-900 words in the end. However, I think it was worth it since it was an extra 30 pts. Exams are pretty easy, they're just the mini quizzes combined. Although they were a min per question with 50 questions so you had to work kinda fast.

Comments on the professor

She was a bit harsh with the discussion posts esp the bibliography section. Also there was one assignment she docked me points for not having a map at the end when that requirement wasn't in the instructions. The instructions are super lengthy and important stuff tends to get lost sometimes bc of it.

Advice

Take it if you are interested in urban planning, but be prepared to write a bit once a month lol.

Comments on the course

Pretty easy class, most of the quiz answers are on quizlet and everything is straight from the textbook. The lectures are pre-recorded and look outdated, you don’t need to watch them at all.

Course Content

There are weekly quizzes, three exams (no final), three discussions, and one group project. The discussions are pretty lengthy and they are graded kind of strict but nothing too bad.
