It's a great crash course for studying film. Most of your effort will be concentrated around discussion posts on the films you watch/course info that you read. These are graded fairly, so you will have to put in effort, but they weren't too bad.

Content focuses on different kinds of films and ways to analyze them (duh.) It was useful to get a basic handle on film terminology and some amount of film history/film criticism.

The professor was a pretty good lecturer and her assignments usually made sense.

There will be screenings every Monday, but at least when I took the class in Fall 2021 they didn't take attendance for the screenings. I stopped going halfway through the semester and just watched the films at home (she makes them available via ICON to watch on your own computer.)
