Prof: Ash Senini / Fall 2023

Comments on the course

The course mostly covers content that you'll already know if you've ever had a job. It was a fairly boring start to my Monday and Thursday mornings, but assignments were easy. Doing the work made the course an easy GPA booster, although morning due dates were annoying. A component of the grade came from iClicker participation in class, but mine stopped working at some point and my grade didn't suffer much from that.

Course Content

The course covered resumes, cover letters, interviews, and the engineering coop process. It has definitely been useful during job searches, and it was nice to know roughly how getting a coop works.

Comments on the professor

Ash is a fun guy, but his delivery method wasn't particularly interesting. He was an easy marker, but getting good feedback from him on assignments wasn't easy unless the submission was truly terrible.

Advice

Pay attention in the lectures, every now and then something that makes assignments significantly easier gets mentioned.

Comments on the course

The course is an absolute joke that you could probably get an A+ without attending any of the lectures… just you have to give up your participation mark to do that.

Comments on the course

Easiest class I have taken from grade 11 to first year uni. Basically just gets you ready for co-ops by making a resume and an interview assignment along with talking about core competencies. Leo knows the class is a joke but makes an effort to make it bearable. (let us leave 10-15mins early every class).

Comments on the course

This class mostly serves as an introduction to coop and work terms. The assignments are very easy. Around 50% of your grade is based on writing a resume and cover letter, which have very clear rubrics.

Advice

Put some good work into your resume and cover letter and you will get a very good grade.
