Comments on the course

Overall, a cool course that I'd wish I had committed myself more to. However, also a very difficult and time-intensive one. Difficulty: One of the most difficult courses I've taken so far, on account of the fact that the material is going to be quite different from what you're used to. The theory is quite abstract and the new notation for vectors and matrices will take getting used to. The assignments were also quite long and difficult with computational elements to them, although not pointlessly so. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the course textbook (McIntyre) since the order it covered the material in was very different from the order we covered the material in class, but I still found it useful enough. Interest: I mean, it's quantum mechanics, of course it's going to be interesting!...read more

Advice

1. I think it would be helpful to forget any pre-existing notions of quantum mechanics you have before diving into this course! (Except what you've learned in 215, of course.) 2. Be prepared to devote a large amount of time into this course, for the workload's quite steep (difficult material + assignments + computational + labs + 3 midterms + final when I took it.) 3. Do whatever you can to not fall behind in this course!!! Won't be easy to catch up.
