I think this is a really well-designed course, at least in the residential program. The assignments are straightforward and you can do them in groups and the flipped classroom style is managed well. I think the instructor we had this quarter made it even better, as explained below.
Survey of different research methods and topics: epistemology/ontology, qualitative and quantitative methods, and the full research cycle and publishing process in LIS as well as other related disciplines. Each week there’s a video lecture and two student-led in-class presentations followed by an ungraded activity or further lecture. Written assignments (grant analysis and grant proposal) are very foundational to your success in the program and build from what you learn overall in the class.
Nic is an awesome teacher. He’s got a great sense of humor and encourages us to have fun with the content while also engaging with it deeply. He gives really good feedback on assignments which is nice, and is there to support you if you need literally ANYTHING. His presence in the iSchool is truly a gift.

Great introduction to the MLIS program and to librarianship's research and evaluation/analysis side. Very interesting readings. I like how open-ended the prompts for assignments are so that students can get the most creative and meaningful outcome.
Professor Weber is such a gift to the iSchool. He's a genuine source of joy and the most caring teacher I have EVER had. He is there for all his students and offers great support for school and non-school-related issues.
