Comments on the course

I dont really know what to say about this course. Its boring yet interesting, good yet bad, easy yet very hard, clear content yet confusing.

Course Content

Automata theory So far, I have found no use for this class's contents.

Comments on the professor

Decent prof. Just attend classes and make sure to stay up to date with class.

Advice

The prerequisite says it needs math 1019, but barely used my knowledge from 1019.

Comments on the course

One of the most interesting CS courses I have taken yet.

Advice

Make sure you have a strong math background before taking this course. I found it easier because of my math background but would have struggled otherwise.

Prof: Ali Mahmoodi / Fall 2020

Dec 21, 2020

Comments on the course

This course is one of the toughest in second year. I found the first half of the course extremely easy compared to the second half. Mahmoodi is a good professor who provides practice solutions in his tutorials which he works through, but he can ramble a bit and not explain things very well. His tests are on the difficult side (the average of the second midterm was less than 50). The good thing is he curves generously.

Advice

Do the practice problems and don't fall too far behind, even if you think it's easy.

Prof: Jeff Edmonds / Fall 2020

Dec 19, 2020

Comments on the course

Jeff's way of teaching is...interesting. Very different from other professors. Course content was very specific to the way he teaches and cannot be compare to other sections.

Advice

If your looking for a course where you can get along with the professor and have lengthy convos about random stuff lol and ur already good at logic then I suggest take the course with him otherwise don't bother, its hard to apply what you learn in his class to real life.
