Comments on the course

Great course of you need a Global Perspective credit or are interested in Anthropology (the study of humans), especially in culture and perspective. The professor is one of the most well-suited people to teach their topic I have ever had. He makes what would otherwise (in my opinion) be a very boring class into a very interesting and engaging class.

Course Content

Parts: 1. Film Journal (40% of the grade) 2. Exams(45% of total grade) 3. Quizzes(15% of total grade) The typical week is 2 classes a week, each being about 75 min, the fun part is most classes you're only being lectured for about half, the other half you just watch movies/ documentaries. None of them are boring if you truly try to understand what is happening and pay attention, that being said you kinda need to because otherwise you're going to fail the exams and journal sections. Basic Week: Tuesday: 75min class, 30-45 min lecture + 30-45 min watching movie/ documentary Thursday, 5-15 min lecture + 60-70 min watching movie/ documentary 1-2 quizzes & 1-2 Journals due/ week 1 exam every 1-2 months

The "Film Journal" consists of 1-2 essays per week, each essay being pretty short (depending on how good you are at writing). The grading is fairly straightforward as far as what you're going to get on the assignment (if you follow the prompt and "cover your bases well," you should be good. 2. As for the exams, it is VITAL that you read all the content he assigns and if you miss a lecture or movie, MAKE SURE YOU REVIEW IT, I averaged about 80-90% on my exams even while fully understanding all the conten...read more
