I liked this class quite a bit -- I enjoy creative writing and actually had fun with this one. There were some aspects of the class that I wasn't the biggest fan of and I wished we could do more writing rather than reading, but I was still able to have a lot of fun with the class.
Most of the class consisted of us reading out of the textbook and analyzing the poems and short stories from it. There were short quizzes at the beginning of every class period about the textbook chapter. We also did several writing exercises, but most of what we wrote was poetry -- there were only 2 short stories that we wrote, and I was hoping we would get to write more.
Professor Stolar was pretty good, but nothing amazing -- his lectures were a little slow and dragged on, and he wanted us to write the way he liked to, so it limited our freedom a little bit. He's really laid back and makes an effort to get to know you.
A lot of the content is taken from the textbook -- it isn't a very hands on class, and the quizzes do take up a lot of your final grade. I also really wish I had known how much poetry we would be writing as opposed to short stories.
