The assignments were very easy, 4 sentence paragraphs per week to begin with, and mostly fun readings that were not necessary to read in detail. One essay for the final.
This particular class was called Imagining New York City, so the theme was city life and culture. The main lessons were about writing techniques for a variety of subjects/formats, not necessarily how to write good, so to speak, so I thought it was rather useful.
He was very kind and interesting, but he seemed rather unavailable to students, and seemed in a rush to leave after every class. Sometimes had weird answers to simple questions, and left me feeling very confused/unsettled at times. I also was pretty annoyed that I got 0 feedback on my final essay, which was the only essay we wrote the whole semester. No idea why I got the final grade I got.
Talk to other classmates about any questions you have, the professor seemed to not like questions after class. And try to get feedback from other classmates as well, because he did not give any specific feedback until the very end.
