This is a topical course about racism, sexual assault, and animal rights. I took this course as a U0 civil engineering student as an elective, so my comments may not be applicable to philosophy students. There is much more reading than in STEM classes, and with much more eloquent diction. There are only three opportunities to earn credit in this class, all are in the form of essays. This could be unappealing, but the course content is very interesting and important in my opinion, so it balances out.

The professor was nice. She summarized and explained the weekly readings quite well.

Attend the live lectures and conferences. They go over weekly readings, and allows you to practice your philosophical reasoning skills. They are also not recorded to encourage free and open discussion around sensitive topics. The readings often contain sophisticated prose and diction, which may make them unapproachable. The language and reasoning levels required in essays are also quite high, which makes it difficult to achieve a high mark. I recommend proofreading each other's essays with a classmate, and checking your essay with a TA. One complaint, however, was that the grading was inconsistent between TAs. There are only three essays, so each one is weighted heavily.
