class is very interesting and manageable
harder than intro psych at other universities but content was very useful
all pre-recorded video lectures that can be tedious to get through but they’re entertaining
stay on top of your work because there is a quiz every week

Super interesting course! There were weekly quizzes (one attempt) but they were easy enough especially if you did the practice quizzes (unlimited attempts)

Nothing but love for this class. Dr. Kim and Dr. Cadieux are phenomenal instructors that really know how to make this content fun. While the workload is a bit heavy at times (weekly quizzes, long modules), it never felt like a drag to me. Has a reputation for being one of the best first-year courses at Mac and I think that's well deserved.
The content is just a general overview of human psychology, and it's super interesting to learn about. Nothing ever goes SUPER in-depth but I'd assume upper-year classes do. The structure, while a bit strange, worked for me, and is as follows: Weekend: Watch a "web module" (roughly 45 minutes) Monday: Lecture, expands on the web module Mid-week: Tutorial, review web module content and textbook Friday: Weekly quiz /10 marks I quite liked this system, as I really felt like I GOT the material after reviewing it so much.
Dr. Kim, who taught us during lectures, was wonderful. Dr. Cadieux was also great! Both are very knowledgeable and approachable people, and were super friendly when I spoke to them with questions.
I don't think the Handbook is really all that important - I'd save your money - but the textbook is pretty essential, as the quizzes always have at least one question pulled directly from it and the midterm/final had a few. Also, I'd recommend watching their "Science of Learning" module EARLY - it's got super good info about studying that honestly, I wish I knew sooner.

Excellent course. Super interesting and very very well organized. The modules were presented in a very cool way and the content itself is very interesting. Definitely a great mix of biology, neuroscience, and psychology. The quizzes weren’t too hard, but definitely pay attention to the answers as there may be one word that makes the answer incorrect. The tutorials helped solidify course content and participating and talking during tutorials is required for participation marks but the TAs give a lot of chances for everyone to speak. The midterm and final exam were very fair and similar to the quizzes in terms of question style. Textbook is necessary as there is at least 1 question from the textbook per quiz. The lectures and modules are definitely tested as well. IClicker points aren’t hard...read more
Profs were amazing and super engaging and tried to incorporate participation.
Great course if you’re looking for an elective. Is not very useful for future biology and science courses unless you’re in PNB or psychology major.

Very entertaining lectures! Loved the option of pop quiz (not worth anything btw) to check you understanding, however, it wasn't that useful when it came to the actual tests. The concept was fairly easy to understand, however, the test question's were worded weirdly making it hard to answer. Quizzes can be done with a friend but note that everyone has different questions types lol. I barely did it with friends and I passed just fine :)
Love how they tried to keep the lectures entertaining and easy to understand.

A really great, enjoyable course! Weekly quizzes were a great way to review the content as it was learned and the exam was very fair. Really engaging lectures and modules!
Just the absolute best.
Make use of the bonus mark opportunities (SONA and Peerwise).

Really, really fun material, presented in an engaging matter. Includes a significant amount of biology and is much more science-based than 1X03.
A blessing
Make sure you find friends to do collaborative quizzes with! Use the discord as much as you can. Make use of bonus mark opportunities.

If I had to recommend any course to anyone who's willing to take a course that's not exactly "bird" but really interesting and useful, I'd recommend MacIntroPsych courses. The course is set up so beautifully. Content is interesting. Modules are clean and easy to follow, and fun! The profs are awesome people and don't make going to class a chore. You have to do a quiz each week on that week's content. That might sound awful to some people, but oh my gosh is it useful. I think I ended up remembering most of the content from my IntroPsych courses than any other class simply because of this. And, they were marked pretty fairly. The profs are psychologists; of course they teach you in ways that are proven to be effective for studying, and it shows in your marks.
I had Dr. Kim. Really cool dude with a knack for explaining things effectively. He was really passionate and interested in his work. I find that he does speak a little slow for some people's comfort though. He's also got a pretty good sense of humour, so that's a plus.
Do the weekly quizzes. Actually try testing yourself when answering the questions in the modules. You end up remembering a lot of content by the end of the class. Do attend tutorials and read the textbook as some questions are pulled from both of them. This class can be a bird if you make it.
Joe Kim and Michelle Cadieux. Both are fantastic profs.

It was a fairly easy course with one midterm and final exam. There are also weekly quizzes and tutorials. Lectures are interesting as well but only apply the concepts from the modules. Textbook is just a detailed version of the modules, you can do well without the textbook since only 10% of questions come from it and they’re pretty easy to guess. But I used it when a weird quiz question came up, so it’s definitely useful to have. This course is useful for learning behavioural psychology type stuff and should be good for MCAT.
Very nice man, does talk slowly tho lol, 9.5/10.
In order to do well, I would mainly focus and make notes on the modules as they are majorly tested.

Very fun course and super amazing profs. Tutorials are also super fun and engaging and help with content retention. However can be super heavy content wise with the weekly quizzes. IMO the exam was also more difficult than the quizzes and midterm which sucked since it’s worth a lot.
Interesting for the most part and pretty usefull
Absolutely incredible. Super fun and make the course even more interesting. Love how they spice up the modules and lectures will cool demos.
Stay on top of your work and actually study for the weekly quizzes even though its open book and online

Fun and interesting course. The first 2 lectures are boring, but the rest are fun. This course is very independent, as there are no tutorials, but I thought it was fine. I didn't do any of the quizzes with a friend because I had none, and I was still fine. Just do the practice quizzes multiple times.
Joe Kim good.

One of the most hyped up courses at Mac, everyone raves about it, so in that sense, it is a bit overrated. The material is interesting but in can be dry for a lot of people too. It's also definitely not a bird, but also not hard to get a 12 either. Also, there's module lectures too and you have to make notes on them, and I absolutely hated modules in any class I had
Great prof, funny and makes the content relatable. A little cringe at times, but it's fun and he's definitely helpful
