Prof: Miranda Schmidt / Fall 2020

This was a tough course but the assignments were good grade boosters and were usually gone over in tutorial. The midterms were challenging but they were often very similar to tutorial questions.
Dr. Schmidt was nice and tried to explain things well, however, that didn't always happen. Ask questions in her lectures and keep asking them until you get an answer you are satisfied with because it can be hard to understand her answers.
Go to the tutorials because the TAs are very willing to help. Answers Dr. Schmidt's questions in lectures because you will all sit there until someone does.

Overall this course was a continuation of topics covered in high school physics and was not hard especially if you have taken both grade 11 and 12 physics. The labs were not too interesting, but there was 2 weeks to submit the post-lab work and the labs along with the weekly lon capa assignments were good mark boosters. The midterms for this class were both online on avenue, the downside to this was that once you finished a page of questions and moved on you could not go back to questions you already did.
content covered in this class includes estimations, kinematics, forces, energy, momentum, and fluids.
Dr. Schmidt was a nice prof, her lectures were clear, and she was always willing to answer questions at office hours and before/after lectures. However, it seemed that she went through the lecture content quickly as she did not go through the example problems fully and instead went through slideshows where the solutions were already typed out.
Do all of the practice materials, attend lectures, do the iclickers, and lon capa assignments and labs and it is guaranteed that you will do well in this class!
