Prof: So Young Lee / Spring 2020

Take this course if you are in the English major family and you're shaky on math. It's so much more interesting.
Content is based around linguistics- think how words sound a certain way, how you make those sounds, linguistic differences across languages, etc. It's interesting, but not super practical if you don't have an interest in linguistics.
Dr. Lee is knowledgeable and is always willing to offer help in office hours or class sessions. She's also very kind. The class is sometimes difficult because she's not a native English speaker. For example, she knows what the difference is between a New Yorker saying "coffee" and an Ohioan saying "coffee", but she can't pronounce it as a demonstration. This can make class difficult during certain units, but is otherwise not an issue.
Stay on top of the work and notes! It's very easy to get lost in linguistic concepts, so I recommend either going to office hours or finding a good study group.
