The Music in History and Culture class was very cool and fun. Despite being a guy who has no musical background besides being in band from 5th to 8th grade, this class was very interesting. The way that the professor tied in the music ages that we were learning about to the artists that are around today was informative and eye opening. As a history buff, I particularly enjoyed the history aspect of the class. We had many opportunities to share samples of our individual music tastes with our classmates through conversation time and project presentations at the end of the semester.

The main content of the class is looking through the musical ages and discussing how they impacted culture at the time. Notes are allowed on most quizzes, so I would advise you to write down what is on the powerpoint, as well as extra pieces of info that the professor tells you about. The quizzes are fairly easy and you will do well if you have written notes and remember the content well. There is a project at the end of the semester where you can talk to the class about your favorite artist or genre. It was pretty fun.

Professor Bly was an amazing professor. She is very kind and helpful.
