Prof: William Lewis / Fall 2021

This was by far my favorite course this semester. The professor and TAs were very engaged in the content, which made it interesting and fun.
This course goes into theatre history, theatre design, acting, etc. Basically a little bit of everything you could imagine. You have two analysis writing for this course about plays that you have to go see, both of which weren't bad (even a little fun) especially if you started early - they're mostly opinion-based. There were weekly quizzes and readings/videos that could be lengthy at times but still pretty interesting if you enjoy learning about theatre. We got to watch some great videos and movies and read some plays that I really enjoyed. The midterm for this class was a group presentation about a theatre topic, and the final was both a written exam and a group performance (including writing, designing, and performing a 10-minute play), so a decent amount of work, but manageable.
The professor was passionate about theatre and you could tell. He explained things very well. The TAs for this class were great. They taught recitations and would sometimes take over lectures on certain weeks. The recitations were always very interesting and fun.
Do the readings early and get a good group to work with for your projects, it makes things a lot more fun. Participate in recitation and lecture, it makes learning easier and more interesting. Also boosts your grade.
