Prof: Jennifer English / Spring 2022
May 20, 2022
In short, this class is a waste of time (unfortunately it's required) and truly doesn't help integrate you into college life. The work isn't very difficult, but you'll have to set aside time that would've been better spent studying for other subjects for the class' miscellaneous projects.
FYE 101E mostly touched on life skills (time management, research skills, interpersonal skills, etc.), but these are aspects of life that are very much explored in all your years prior to coming to UAH. You will get to meet a few people, but not as many as they may initially lead you to believe (you generally don't stray from outside your 6-8 person group). Again, it's not quite useful, but the one point I found to be beneficial was the presentation of the poster project at the end of the semester (public speaking wise).
Dr. English was a fine professor and made the lecture material slightly more bearable.
Try to do your work a bit ahead of time if possible! It'll be a bit of a time-suck when it comes to research and you have larger workloads in other classes.
