One of the best classes that year

Course Content

as a 2nd year prof, she knows that there's students new to sociology so we got some review, but still with some family focus. It was a nice review for me

Comments on the course

Theory is never fun, but Alyssa made it better. Instead of looking at old theories in depth, we would apply them to real life research and events. We had 2 classes dedicated to each theory (each with activities, and some sets of classes ending with one article discussion), a book club, midterm paper comparing theories (probably wouldve been better for a final), and final creative project (which could be substituted for an easy 5 MC 9 SA take home exam). Most projects had corresponding papers

Comments on the professor

She's widely known for being chill and easy. Also really nice and understanding.

Advice

I would recommend her SOCI 200 and FMST 314 to anyone. I would just recommend SOCI 415 to sociology majors fulfilling their contemporary theory (but not as an extra sociology course unless a GPA boost is REALLY needed)

Chill class, easy and super nice prof

Advice

If you have a group project, pray that they're good. My group sucked, and I was a bit too easy on them. If you need to, just shit on them on iPeer
