I came into this course excited about learning more about the specializations offered in business. Needless to say this course does not really teach you anything that you didn’t know before. The only things that they were actually able to provide some more info on were accounting/finance and marketing. The real estate section was the worst. We were taught nothing and had to listen to a podcast from another prof. It just went over some Vancouver housing information and many real estate terminology were not explained. The participation grading was extremely unfair. It was mentioned that even if you just participate once but leave something meaningful you’ll gain more points. I’m not sure if my inputs were meaningful but I know for a fact I at least spoke up more than 5 times overall in tutor...read more
Participate every time as it’ll never be enough. Get on the TAs good side. If you have the choice to not take this course, don’t.

Mildly interesting at times but lacks depth with the topics.
Participate a lot and put in work on the big assignments. Quizzes and breakout room activities are easy marks.

Not my favourite class, there's no structure to the course. It's more like a Mish mosh of information and you learn very little abt business. Furthermore, you can work many many hours on an assignment for an average mark not because you didn't out enough effort but because they purposely hand out low marks. A teaching assistant has literally told people that the profs tell them to give you lower marks. Lastly, participation is garbage because there's 120 students but you need to participate every week so it's impossible to get picked.
If you participate in tutorials, that will bring you mark up alot. It's quite possible to do it every tutorial and I definitely reccomend it. Lastly, you should also do their bonus marketing study for a 1% boost.
