Okay so I think they've completely overhauled the structure of this course? Firstly, it's called GEOS 102 now, and unfortunately, it's WAY harder than what 2021 reviews are saying. There's no high school review to be seen, and the weather content is tough. The overall ideas are quite easy to grasp but there's lots of pure memorization of niche details (like the names of air masses, meteorological regions, etc). Classes are live streamed, so attendance isn't mandatory. I think I'll probably get a B or a low A. Structure: 2 exams: one midterm and one final (made up of multiple choice +short and long answers but no calculations) 4 labs 5 open-book short quizzes with six questions each (and sometimes they spring concepts on you that weren't in lectures...)
First half is climate and weather, second half is eco-systems and biogeography.
She speaks really fast in-person, so I ended up just staying home and watching lectures (so I could pause when I needed to). She lowkey reads directly off the slides, but she's nice enough.
- Take very detailed notes on lectures. They'll help you on labs, quizzes, and exams. - No need to buy the textbook. There are free pdfs online and you don't really use it very much. - No feedback on labs unless you go ask for it from TAs.
