Get ready to read. While this is an interesting class, you'll have to do *so much* heavy lifting on reading the textbook. Regardless, I found the content really interesting.
Chris is relatable but not super accessible. Maybe it's that I was an international student and he pretty much gave us no concessions for exams or assignments.
If you have a good discussion group this course could be really fun. My TA was incredibly engaging and supportive which helped a lot.

Make sure you do the readings!! As for class, Chris may have disorganized lectures that aren't explicitly on exams, and he may seem repetitive, but some big ideas are really useful and help with recalling the readings. Term paper is a bit of a pain, but that's the only downside.
For those who want to try a sociology class, I would recommend SOCI 102, as it is lighter in content. It's similar to SOCI 101, so doing both at the same time (which I am currently doing) is a good idea.
