This was a super fun course, but also very challenging. It's the kind of challenge that will push you to learn and expand how you think. It starts out very challenging, but gets better as you go.
If you enjoy math and are strong in math you will do fine and should stick with it. Be prepared to spend a good amount of time thinking through the homework though.

Phenomenal class with a great professor. Convinced me to take a combined major with math. I found IB Math HL easy, but this class works with proofs and you will learn a lot. Getting an A isn't too hard so long as you finish the assignments, but you WILL work for it. Scaled Generously.

Honestly, the most fun yet challenging class I took in my first term at UBC. Prof. Martin was very accommodating regarding covid and ensured that we prioritized our mental health. The class itself was challenging (especially the homeworks), but the exams are generously curved so it isn't impossible to do well overall. 9/10

Great course and great professor, look at the math 120 reviews to get a better idea of how the style of the course it. You pretty much take it with the same exact people and the workload/learning styles are nearly identical. Compared to math 120, I consider the proofs to be easier, but the course as a whole is harder to get a good grade as everyone has matured in their proof-writing and so the grading is stricter. Recommended for anyone interested in math, or thinks they may be suited for honours in another related department (phys, stats, cpsc).

Hard yet great class, I've already taken IB Math HL and thought I would learn only a little. How wrong I was. Incredible professor.
Do homework early and then redo it later on in the course.
