Comments on the course

Seems to have improved based on the course average (~pre-pandemic of 72) and the recent 2021W average of 82. Evaluation method seems to have improved as I surprisingly did better than I expected for most things (except for lab technique score). Very quiz heavy, so this boosted the grades for everyone as it was open book. Overall, not a course that most people should take if optional (unless you wish to enter chem graduate study, as I noticed TAs were very very very passionate on subject matter), this is a course that still is very material heavy and is definitely mandatory for many science students. Took it after my bachelor's for an admission requirement and found it to be one of the most heaviest courses in material I have taken. Liquid liquid extraction, recrystallization, melting point analysis, saponification, TLC, esterification, distillation (simple and fractional).

Lab instructor is responsible for the grading scheme, however marking is done by the TA you are assigned.
