I was not a finance major so I did not like or care for this class. The averages for exams were the worst I have seen in any college course I have taken so far.
There are not a lot of assignments. 4 quizzes, 4 exams, and 5 in class quizzes. Exams are 75% of your grade!
He was very nice and helpful. He does curve your grade at the end of the course.
Study the quizzes you have to take during the exam week! The math problems are EXACTLY what is on the exam, just different numbers. The concept questions were harder to study for. I would say maybe look at the slides? I have to guess on these mostly.

Due to COVID (and I believe this class is normally in REAL format), you have to teach yourself. I was excited to take finance because I wanted to know more about that realm but unfortunately the content is bland. Byrd uses the same lectures from 2018 (you would think he would post updated lectures to highlight how COVID has changed our markets) so the learning material is outdated. You have a few quizzes a semester that are basically graded practice exams (he also gives practice exams but they're not graded). The quizzes and practice exams are very similar to the actual tests. There are no assignments which is nice. If you genuinely want to learn finance you have to teach yourself because of the outdated lectures and trying to contact the TAs and the professor can be annoying sometimes.
Do practice problems, there's a lot of formulas (you're given a formula sheet)!
