Prof: Julie Ferguson / Winter 2022

I think what made this class more enjoyable and easy to get through is Professor Ferguson - her lectures were well-organized, she accommodated to COVID issues by dropping lowest 3 quizzes, discussions, and lowest exam. Plus, the course topics themselves were interesting, though sometimes hard. Many people have said this class is too much for a GE, but it covers both II and V, so I think it was worth.
The material wasn’t too difficult to grasp for the most part, but if you take this under the assumption you’re mainly learning about marine animals, you’re very wrong. The topics are mainly indirectly related to the ocean and instead more towards general earth science (but what can you expect, really). There is a unit dedicated to just animals at the end of the year quarter
Julie is quite passionate about the topic and her delivery of lectures seems very friendly. She doesn’t just talk the entire time, but stops for a few minutes of discussion among peers for questions she puts on the board throughout the lecture. Also shows videos.
I do wish I knew just how little we were going to talk about marine animals, because that was something I was excited for.
