Prof: Jade Sasser / Fall 2021
May 18, 2022
Very interesting if you're passionate about sustainability and feminism.
This course takes an intersectional approach to environmental issues, hence "gender" in the course name. Expect a feminist perspective on subjects such as population control, activism, natural disasters, agriculture, and forestry. It's a useful course if you don't want a basic scientific approach to these issues. Weekly readings and/or videos (provided by prof.) and discussion posts. Must be a discussion leader once during the quarter, which requires 1 page of discussion notes based on the readings to be turned in. 3 quizzes, 3 short essays. One group project.
Professor Sasser can appear to be intimidating, and is very no nonsense. Make sure to read the syllabus and any assignment guidelines thoroughly before you visit office hours. She is a good lecturer, and greatly encourages participation during discussion.
Don't procrastinate on the group project. If there are issues, alert the TA and/or the professor asap.
