The lab itself is fun and interesting. The group project was interesting too.
Difficulty varies depending on what professor you had for orgo 2. I know Guo students felt disadvantaged compared to Portmess students because they weren't as strong in IR and NMR. Portmess and Davidson are married, so it seems they collab on course content.
Really depends on your TA.
The quizzes will take you by surprise, as they are much harder than anticipated.

In a lot of ways, it's like a general chemistry lab, just a little more interesting and a little less writing. The grades come from lab notebooks, the lab practical, two progress quizzes, and a group project. The progress quizzes are difficult because they test some oddly specific things from the labs, but everything else is fine.
About half of the labs were interesting and the other half were just fine. Some of the better labs included making crystals, making slime, and making and burning biodiesel. Some of the content depends on what you learn in the organic chem class and the rest is just other random content that is thrown in.
Dr. Davidson is Dr. Portmess' wife, and it shows. The progress quizzes were harder than they needed to be. The rest of the class and the grading depends on how nice your TA is (mine basically gave you a 100 as long as you did the assignment)
Make sure that you pay attention during every lab and ask lots of questions. Your grade on the progress quizzes depend on it.

All depends on if you get a good TA that grades easily and doesn't require you to do a lot of the tedious things.
TA was great the professor is terrifying literally so scary and mean.
