This course is basically memorizing 200+ plant common name and scientific name (family to species). It is doable if you are really good at memorizing names, but each week is cumulative even after the midterm so it continually gets harder and harder. The lecture portion is basically a bunch of plant terminology, so more memorizing terms. The weekly quizzes seem too heavily weighted for the lecture portion (10 true/false question) compared to the lab quizzes (12 random plants from current or previous weeks). I did super well in the lab portion of the class, but my grade ultimately suffered due to the true/false quizzes being tricky and quickly dropping my grade.
If you love plants and want to be better at IDing them, this is definitely a great course to take. I loved learning about how to ID them and the different types of plants, but the scientific names seem pointless as I will most likely not remember them after this semester nor use it in the future.
Do not take it with any other tedious courses or you will be very stressed.
