This class is hard no doubt. The amount of work is insane and almost worth nothing in comparison to the exams. Study Edge is a necessity and it helps to go to office hours as well.

The content isn't really difficult it's just the exams. They're designed to trick you and are weighted %60. Homework and quizzes do nothing to raise your grade but definitely drop it if you do poorly on one. This class isn't made for the faint of heart. There's about 3 hw assignments per week along with a worksheet and worksheet quiz and then a regular quiz each week. Additionally and most frustrating is the PLAs (pre-lecture assignments) that are due before every single lecture so thats about three a week and they're like a whole other quiz.

Professor Hale is new to the university but she's very engaging and loves the subject with her whole being. She really cares about the students and understands our struggles more because she is younger than other professors. You'll never see someone who is more passionate about chemistry. Be prepared for singing, Taylor Swift, explosions, and lots of jokes with song references that nobody knows. She's really a great professor and very funny. Highly recommend.

STUDY EDGE. It's a life saver and NECESSARY if you can afford it. Do practice problems whenever you can and make sure you are constantly studying. Attend lectures but if you have study edge than you don't really need to pay attention. And get a study partner too!

The class overall is hard. Sumner writes the exams, but the other profs are better at teaching. But, the exams are going to be difficult regardless of who you have. Personally, I say go with the better professor (Hale or Harris).

Hale is so fun and passionate about chem. She sings in class, which is engaging. She truly cares about her students. I had her for an 8:30am double block and always enjoyed class. It is an assignment heavy course, but it will be for any prof you take.
