Comments on the course

Mainly just a lot of grinding exam problems and getting the strategies down.

Comments on the professor

Korolev was great, even though the class is hard, she made it more bearable.

Comments on the course

Definitely take this over 2045 if you are an eng. major. Content isn't different from gen chem but Korolev is an excellent lecturer. Engineering stuff isn't very well incorporated but is there, at least. Conceptually easy but hard assessments relatively.

Course Content

Basic chemistry, starting with basics like dimensional analysis and ending with reaction kinetics. Not useful to engineering majors if you aren't chemical, materials, biomedical, or environmental. The hw is very easy and not time consuming, but the quizzes are surprisingly difficult (more so than the tests) and are a real pain. Tests are difficult relative to hw and practice. Stupid engineering mini-projects in discussions.

Comments on the professor

Korolev is an excellent lecturer and elevates a pretty mediocre class. She is very good at breaking down problems and including students in solving them, despite having over 300 in a section.

Advice

Take the tests seriously. They aren't so bad that the average score will be a 40% or anything, but they will knock you down a peg if you expect an A without studying. They are also 80% of the grade. Same with quizzes honestly. The content is easy but there is a lot of it so review consistently.

Comments on the course

Workload is manageable but overall the course content was difficult; however, Dr. Korolev really shines as a professor when teaching this course. If you have the opportunity to take a class with her, take it. She is an incredibly gifted lecturer and takes the time to make sure everyone understands concepts despite 300+ person lecture halls.

Comments on the course

Just boring, unnecessarily difficult, and overall painful taking this class, especially as an engineering major. Nothing from this class will ever be useful to you yet you're expected to memorize all this jargon that should 100% have a formula/cheat sheet but it doesn't. Exams are much more difficult than they should be based on the content you actually learn and are given assignments on.

Course Content

Prepare to memorize loads of random bullshit for exams.
