The course is very simple, based only on her lectures and the readings. The lectures can definitely be confusing and the content is kinda a lot but doing the readings will likely give you a much better understanding of the courses. It is based on three assignments, a midterm and final, both of which are essays written in class, and you are given a study guide beforehand, a short-ish essay due after the midterm, and also on participation/attendance.

The course content is a bit obscure for sure, but I'm gonna assume if you're considering taking the course then you know that and are looking for obscure.

Dr. Caputo's lectures are very simple/basic, she gets up before the class and talks which some terms are written up on the board, and while this style isn't exactly my cup of tea, people who don't have trouble focusing in class shouldn't have trouble with the course, especially given the small number of assignments and the study guides given.

My advice would be to kinda just take in the content and enjoy it, the essay is based on primary source reading and analysis and the exams have study guides, I don't think it's a good idea to slack off (like I said doing the readings is extremely helpful) but try not to take it so seriously, you don't need to catch every detail she says so try and enjoy it and take in some main ideas. Also, Dr. Caputo is very helpful and wants you to go to her office hours if you can, don't hesitate to reach out to her if you need.
