It is not necessarily difficult material but there are lots of assignments. This is nice so exams are not weighted so much. There is also an easy opportunity for point with the project. Definitely more useful for people who want to study evo/devo in animals, plants, etc
I found the content somewhat interesting. Some people were really into it and had great discussion posts and passion for the class. I was taking this as a requirement but still enjoyed the material.
Dr. Douglas is kind and fair however he can be difficult to reach at times. His lectures are easily to follow and slow-paced but they do not cover everything that will be covered on exams.
It's a heavy workload, especially during summer with other classes so keep that in mind. Reading the textbook is a very useful supplement, do not just watch lectures.

I may be biased on how I describe this course as this content was incredibly interesting to me (to the point where I would have so much fun reading the textbook and studying for exams), but regardless, I will try to give an honest review. The questions are tricky and require you to really think about the course material critically (especially the vocab/terms). I think everyone was capabl...read more
Useful for people going into any biological sciences or natural history.
He is nice and endearingly awkward during the recorded lectures. You won't have much interaction with him throughout the course, though, since it's mostly automated. He responds to emails quickly and seems really passionate about the content and your learning.
Do your assignments on time (stay on top of them), start labs early, read the textbook and engage + understand the content in the reading.
