Prof: Philip Janzen / Fall 2021

A good starting off point for anyone with limited knowledge about Africa.
Lectures focus on specific regions, like the Great Lakes, and a topic like, potlical development. Lectures are not hard to follow and can allow for questions that deepen the fairly shallow material. There are readings and vary in length greatly, discussion depend on who you sit with. Overall you will come out with a better idea on African History.
Great professor, although quiet dry in his delivery. Take advantage of office hours before and after any assignments, or with any questions he is easy to talk to.
You can likely pass or get an A without reading, but really knowing readings and lectures will drastically improve your essays. All essays are 5 pages max, double spaced. Ask a few questions and you will stand out to the professor.
