This class was great! A lot of reading though and lectures. I am an online student, but professor Buhman gave students the opportunity to be involved through zoom. Quizzes were given every week, but we were allowed to use the book, and they are not timed. I recommend taking this course with her, she was just great!
This is an aging course, so if you are interested in that, you should love this. It is an upper level course, but did not feel like one. Very straightforward, but the quizzes can be worded poorly. Hopefully they have gotten better. We were the first class to use the new material (she changed her class material the semester I took it). There are no midterms or finals, just unit quizzes and one outlook paper at the end of the semester!
She is open and listens to the students. You could argue for injustices on the quizzes. She is an adjunct professor, who doesn’t teach year round. She will teach one semester and skip the next, so you’ll have to find which semester she teaches.
You do not have to major in gerontology or pursue aging certificate to take this course. You should have an interest in the aging process.
